The colourfully-illuminated Ameen Peer Dargah, popular as Pedda Dargah, in Kadapa was abuzz with pilgrims for the gandhotsavam as part of Urs and the noted music director A.R. Rahman was the centre of attraction.
As part of the gandhotsavam, Sajjad-e-Nasheen of Pedda Dargah Khwaja Syed Sha Arifullah Mohammed Hussaini took the gandham from his residence amidst drum beats to the dargah at 11 p.m. on Tuesday, offered it and performed Tehleel Fateha at the tomb of Hazrath Khwaja Syed Sha Ameenullah Malik.
A qawwali that preceded was a big draw and Ahmad Razack Quadri of London presented Nath (Prophet Mohammed’s life history).
Pedda Dargah symbolised communal amity, said Kadapa District Judge G. Srinivas, who was the chief guest in the annual day function of Ameen educational institutions on the Dargah premises. Expressing pleasure on participating in the Urs, the Judge presented prizes to meritorious students.
The Sajjad-e-Nasheen, former Minister Mohd. Ahmedullag, Dargah secretary Syed Ameer and others were present.
